Narrative
At approximately 01:30 am officers were patrolling the Downtown area and encountered a disorderly subject in the p/lot of Wachovia Bank at 153 S. Bradford St. As officers were dealing with the subject, they observed a suspicious subject in the area of the ATM who appeared to be concealing himself from the officers and acting suspiciously. A two year veteran of the force attempted to contact the individual who subsequently fled on foot. The officer pursued the suspecrt on foot and took him to the ground a short distance away. During the altercation, the officer's left knee was injured. The suspect continued to resist arrest, throwing punches at responding officers. Several officers took the subject into custody after a struggle. The suspect was later identified as Matthew Torres age 22.The officer was transported to KGH-ER and was treated for a sprained left knee and abrasions. The officer was later released. The defendant Torres was released after posting secured bail. It was not determined why Torres was hiding and acting so suspiciously or why he fled from the officer.
